Benjamin Franklin: “God governs in the affairs of men.”
I have lived, Sir, a long time and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth — that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings that "Except the Lord build they labor in vain that build it.
I therefore beg leave to move — that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessings on our deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning before we proceed to business.
At the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Benjamin Franklin reminded the delegates they prayed daily at the beginning of the Revolutionary War (1775-1783) ... “And have we now forgotten that powerful friend?”
The delegates were struggling to forge the United States Constitution during that hot summer. There was a turning point when they began to pray each morning.
In our personal lives and in our nation, prayer creates space for the Lordship and Leadership of King Jesus.

Father, we believe in our heart that we have received, and we count it done. We are grateful. Amen.
